DOMINANT DISPLAY! Lompoc Swimming CRUSHES Nipomo in STUNNING League Finale — Braves Finish UNDEFEATED in Ocean League!
The Lompoc High School girls swim team delivered a COMMANDING performance on Friday, swimming past Nipomo in the final league dual meet of the season with a RESOUNDING 94-36 victory. The Braves finished the Ocean League season with a perfect 5-0 record and an impressive 7-1 mark overall, cementing their status as the DOMINANT force in the league and sending a clear message to their competitors heading into the championship season.
The victory was a comprehensive team effort, with Lompoc swimmers finishing first in nearly every event and demonstrating the kind of depth that makes championship teams special. From the opening relay to the final individual event, the Braves controlled the pace and the scoreboard, leaving no doubt about which team was superior on this day.
The 200 medley relay set the tone early, with sophomore Jaklyn Stevens and seniors Mercedes Martinez, Arwen Galisky, and Gabriela Huizer combining for a winning performance that energized the entire team. The second-place finish by the team of sophomore Karen Aluarez Lucuanos, Bree Huyck, senior Giselle Carmona, and sophomore Makenzie Dyline added valuable points and demonstrated the kind of depth that has been the HALLMARK of Lompoc's success all season.
Individual performances were equally IMPRESSIVE. Galisky continued her outstanding season with a victory in the 100 butterfly, while Jessica Johnson added a second-place finish to give Lompoc valuable points. Huizar was a standout in the 200 butterfly, claiming first place with a time that reflected the hard work and dedication she has put into her training throughout the season.
The 100 freestyle was another event where Lompoc's depth was on full display, with Huizar, Carmona, and Dyline finishing in the top three — a clean sweep that effectively put the meet out of reach. Stevens added to her impressive day with victories in both the 200 individual freestyle and the 100 backstroke, showcasing the versatility that has made her one of the most VALUABLE swimmers on the roster.
The boys team also had notable performances, placing second in the 200-meter medley relay with a team featuring senior Arturo Garcia, freshman Levi Baird, junior Ivan Ortega, and sophomore Javier Alonso-Anto. The relay result, while not a victory, demonstrated the competitive spirit and determination that the boys program has developed throughout the season.
For the Braves, the victory over Nipomo was more than just another win — it was a STATEMENT. It confirmed that their undefeated league record was no fluke, that their depth and talent are for real, and that they are poised for a strong showing in the championship meets ahead. With a perfect league record and a roster full of swimmers who are peaking at the right time, the Lompoc Braves have established themselves as the team to beat.
